9/30 ~ 10/6

Brian and Ian sick this week, but they are better now.

Revlon...Love that Red.

A dear friend of mine started thrift shopping, so I decided to try my hand at it.  Let's just say Katie and I   found the mother load (this is a very small sample).

Ian's book order came in...the latest Captain Underpants.

A new table cloth for fall.

Have a great week!

Football party

I'm not a football fan, but Mr. Young definitely is.
I wasn't excited about him spending many beautiful Sunday's in our basement watching the game.
So I came up with the idea of having a few football parties with my family throughout the season.  Nothing too fancy, just good food, conversation, and the game of course.

The television needed to come up, and although it is comfortable to watch movies up here.  We also had to move our homework table and we are not too happy about that.
So we will see how long this new arrangement lasts.
Have a great week.

The Queen's Room gets a redo

We've lived in our home for almost 10 years now.  The "Queen's" room was one of the first we painted and it is ready for an update.  It's taken on sort of a "granny" look that I'm not crazy about.  This room gets used quite a bit, but I can't help feeling we are not maximizing the space.
This weekend everything is coming out.  Yes everything!! After we are done painting, some but not all of the furniture will go back in.
As far as decor this is my inspiration.

I'm thinking creamy/ivory walls with sort of a French country look.
I'll keep you posted.
How about you friends, what sorts of projects do you have lined up for this season?  I would love to hear about it!
Have a great day!

Bedroom Makeover ~ Part Three

Well the Mister and I started and finished painting on Saturday. It was a team effort. Brian kept saying it looks awesome! I really like it and I am happy with it but, it is a little more green than I thought. Sorry the photo isn't that great.
Window treatments next, probably velvet in khaki (thanks Angel)! I want to get a new fixture to hang them on as well. I priced them out this week and they are not terribly expensive at Target, but I think I will wait for a sale. We're in no huge rush. We have white sheers right now they aren't the best as far as the look we are going for, but they are fine. We also have a chair that I want to do something with. Probably recover the seat with a different fabric. Then in the spring Brian will take up the carpet and we will get a rug.
The rooms is very warm, cozy and inviting! Since I am a Viking's widow tonight, I might just go enjoy my cozy room with a good book.

Bedroom Makeover ~ Part One

When we moved in our house we created the haven that we dreamed about in our bedroom. We painted the walls in strips (frost queen and blue moon). These colors complimented the beautiful periwinkle with white embroidery Laura Ashley duvet cover that we found. About a year later we bought a new bed that we still love (Room and Board).
Well, a few years ago we decided we were ready for a change. We just have not made time for it, nor did we find anything that we loved. This year is going to be that year. We are carving out some time to paint, and we have found a few things that have inspired us color wise.
The first step was to buy some new sheets. Sorry the photo is not the greatest. The sheets are sort of a burgundy/redish color. We really like them. They are super soft and we love the color!
Can't wait for part two!!
Happy Friday! Have a great weekend friends!

Before and after

Before

After
We have been meaning to change this light fixture out pretty much for as long as we have lived in our home. We finally got around to it. Brian loves it! To say he disliked the previous chadlier would be an major understatement. What do you think?

#3

Well it finally happened...the third tooth fell out. He was wiggling it and wiggling it, and then he said to Brian, "Dad after supper I want you to pull it out." Brian is the official tooth puller around here. So they went into the bathroom, and shut the door. Katie and I were busy cleaning up in the kitchen and we heard a AHHHHHHHHHHH! Oh no, I thought. Ian has never cried when he has had a tooth pulled. Then he came running out and at the top of his lungs said "OH MY GOSH!" He was so excited, and there was not a tear shed. Afterwards, Brian said the AHHHHHHHHHH was not pain but Ian's reaction to the way he looked after the tooth was pulled. The next morning, bright and early Ian woke up and ran into our room. "Guess what, the tooth fairy left me two John F. Kennedy's!" Of course today it was back to school, and guess what he shared about during "sharing time." We have a pretty excited boy around here.

I also wanted to share with you what my friend Shana made for me.

In November I had seen a really cute banner on etsy. I immediately thought I should ask Shana if she could make me one. Shana has her own business called 5 eleven design, and she makes SUPER cute stuff out of paper. So she made me one that said GIVE THANKS, and apparently I didn't take a photo of it. I also asked her for one, that says HAPPY NEW YEAR. Isn't the cutest!!!! So go check out her blog. I'm thinking I might need one for February.
