A dear friend of mine started thrift shopping, so I decided to try my hand at it.  Let's just say Katie and I   found the mother load (this is a very small sample).

Ian's book order came in...the latest Captain Underpants.

Yellow Dress

Isn't this the prettiest dress!  Picky girl is starting to get some new pieces in for spring.  I just love this beautiful yellow dress with the blue necklace.

On another note I'm going to be taking the next couple weeks off from the blog world.  My plate is pretty full (with good things) for the next couple of weeks.  So if you don't hear from me on your blog or don't see me on our blog, it's not you it's me.

The Season of Giving

Picky Girl had a little soiree on Thursday. Brian and I stopped by quick to show our support and check out the new holiday apparel. For Christmas this year I was planning on pulling out a classic velvet number that I haven't worn for awhile. From across the room I saw this beauty calling my name. I strolled over to her and she was stunning. The dress is made of a heavy ivory fabric with a beautiful gold design printed all over. The dress is from 213, my favorite designer that Picky Girl carries. They are beautiful and ultra feminine pieces that are very sweet and timeless in my opinion.

Susie was also in attendance, and insisted that I try the dress on. So, on it went and it fit perfect on my not so much 20 year old figure. Mr. Young also approved. I am really happy about the purchase and excited to wear it for Christmas. Another great piece to add to my closet!

Sales!!!!

All Summer long I have been wanting a pair of espadrille wedges. Since I am more of frugalista than a fashionista, I put the purchase on hold.

If you didn't know already, I tend to be on the petite side of the height scale. I'm not coordinated enough to pull off a stiletto, but a wedge I can do.

Last week I took the children to Target to get some new shoes. Katie got a darling pair of of sequined black ballet flats that will be perfect for dressy occasions. I know some of you with young girls have a hard time finding appropriate dress shoes for your daughter, especially once their feet have reached a certain size. Target has a great selection of ballet flats on sale this week for $8! Ian got a new pair of tennis shoes. He insisted one shoes with laces...great! And I got these cute shoes that you see above. They were on clearance for $13.98, plus I got my discount so they ended up being around $11!! Patience is a virtue.

There are a lot of great sales going on right now, so make sure to check the clearance racks.

My sister Elizabeth just posted photos of a few new dresses she got in her shop. This one is calling my name and it is most definitely a Rachel dress. What do you think? Would you wear a dress like this?

An Evening to Remember

Laundry, cute shoes, and THE DRESS

Do you enjoy doing the laundry? I don't mind it so much, but I get hung up on the folding. I was getting really behind on my laundry, and decided I needed to put a system back in place. Now I know everyone has their way of doing laundry, I'm just sharing what works for me.



1. We have two hampers, one on the main floor and one on the upper level. These must be emptied everyday before I throw a load in.



2. In the basement I have four baskets that the dirty laundry must be sorted into.

a. linens (napkins, table clothes, towels etc..)

b. lights (light colored clothing, and dress clothes)

c. darks (jeans, dark colored clothing, and dark socks)

d. underclothes, white socks, and jammies



3. Every day of the week has a certain set of clothes that is assigned to it.
Sunday: underclothes and white socks
Monday: linens
Tuesday: jammies
Wednesday: jeans and dark socks
Thursday: Misc...
Friday: darks and dark socks
Saturday: Sheets, and lights

4. Once the clothes are out of the dryer. I immediately fold Brian's clothes and put them in his clean clothes basket. He then puts them away, in his no rhyme or reason dresser. Then I sort the rest of the clothes and fold them. I put Ian and my clothes away. Katie's clothes I put on her bed and she takes care of putting them away. If I don't have the opportunity to fold the clothes right away, they must be folded the next day.

It's pretty basic, and it works for us.


Now on to something fun!!! I bought this shoes a few weeks ago for $4.95. Aren't they darling!?! I just love them. Katie was sooo jealous...why can't I have cute shoes like those? So, I said you can borrow them I'm sure they will fit you. Sure enough they fit her.



Katie and I are going to check out a cute dress at Picky girl. That I might get for Valentine's day. I was looking for something with some va va voom to it! Let's just say this dress has a lot of that. Susie said that Brian won't be able to handle himself and Liza said he is going to flip. Now I just need to fit into it!
