Powerhouse Smoothie

Isn't it puuurty?
Maybe not so much.
When I saw this on my friend Vivi's blog I new I had to give it a whirl.
Now, I know this doesn't have a lot of visual appeal, but it tastes pretty good.  I gave a little to Brian just to see what he thought, and he also liked it.
One of my goals on this blog is to inspire you to try new and different foods, and I hope we do that.
I changed the recipe a bit from the original, and I  would encourage you to use it as a springboard to suit your tastes.  Give it a try.

Powerhouse Smoothie

2 Large handfuls of organic baby spinach
1/2 cup skim milk
1 Banana (either frozen or fresh)
1/2 Cup organic frozen blueberries
2 Tablespoons milled flax seed
1/4 Cup greek yogurt
2 teaspoons honey (I melt my honey, because I feel it incorporates better.)

Place all of the ingredients in your blender until your desired consistency is achieved.

Here's to your health!

xoxo
Rachel

I am going to have to get that magic Bullet going and make some smoothies!! I have been chatting with Vivi on a good tasting protein powder.

Spinach? Interesting...but the blueberries must hide the bitter taste. Although baby spinach doesn't have such a strong taste.

You're so brave! I hope I can build up my sense of adventure to try some of these things...I know a lot of people love these kinds of smoothies, but I can't convince my brain to get over the odd fruit and vegetable combination.

Mmm, I love smoothies, I find them to be a great breakfast as they are very nutritional and filling. Once I get back home from college (and have access to a blender) maybe I can give this recipe a try :)

Oh Rachel, so proud of you! I'm glad you "made it your own" and liked your results! Your version sounds wonderful. I totally admit, the color is off-putting, but the flavor is good, isn't it? Especially knowing it packs a good nutritional punch!

And guess what, I'm looking for a lentils with curry recipe...how's that for the girl that thinks she doesn't like curry?!?!?

I won't lie. . this scares me. But I like all of the ingredients, so why not try it? Also LOVE your St. Patrick's Day header - beyond cute.
