Bits of Encouragement

Summer set lip to earth's bosom bare,
And left the flushed print in a poppy there.
~Francis Thompson, "The Poppy," 1891

Bits of Encouragement

For Better or For Worse is by far my favorite comic strip.
This particular strip reminded me of Ian. He can be rather cranky but then out of the blue he can be so sweet. Reading through this brought a smile to my face, I hope it does to yours too.
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!
Happy Monday!

Bits of Encouragement

"I do recommend and assign Thursday, the twenty-sixth day of November next, to be devoted by the people of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being who is the beneficent author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be; that we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks for His kind care and protection of the people of this country previous to their becoming a nation."
GEORGE WASHINGTON, FROM THE FIRST THANKSGIVING PROCLAMATION

Have a wonderful week!

Bits of Encouragement

"I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."
Philippians 1:3-6

I hope you all were able to enjoy this beautiful Monday!

Bits of Encouragement

"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people especially to those who belong to the family of believers." Galatians 6:9-10

Bits of Encouragement

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:6-7, NIV)

Bits of Encouragement

"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and and find me when you seek me with all your heart." Jeremiah 29:4

Happy Labor Day!!

Bits of Encouragement

"But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. I will sing to the Lord for he has been good to me." Psalm 13:5-6

Brian making dinner = AWESOME dinner!
He made grilled ratatouille last night (yes, like the movie)...seriously awesome! As you can see we pretty much cleaned the bowl. Plus it was a great way to use up a lot of veggies. Now, I'm trying to negotiate an apple pie. We got two bags from our CSA last week. Have a great week!
P.S.
We're going to the fair today!!!!

Bits of Encouragement

When you lead, dear Lord, I venture out into the great beyond with courage and expectation. A protected cove is safe, but you have called me to live with passion. I may encounter risks, but I know your provision and care are enough. Give me hope in your saving me from storms, climbing mountains before me and finding me when lost. I trust in you and I thank you for the adventures in life that make me who I am called to be. Make my way purposeful and glorifying to you. Provide me with all I need for the journey-your perfect peace, joy unspeakable and unwavering faith.
~Life Beautiful Magazine, Summer 2010~

Bits of Encouragement

The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not be in want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness
for his name's sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of
death, I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
forever.
Psalm 23
Pray for the people of Haiti.
Love~
