For me, having an organized grocery list is essential. I first saw this idea in Ina Garten's book, Back to the Basics. It has worked like a charm for me, and I have been using it for quite a while now. I'm not sure if you can see the picture very clearly. I have six sections on my list Dairy, Meat, Produce, Shelf Goods, Frozen, and Misc. I create a document on my computer and print out a stack on paper that has been used on one side already. I try every week to put a blank one up on our fridge. As we run out of items, we can add it to the list. Then on the back of the list I write out our menu for the week. This also gets posted on the fridge, after I am done shopping. It works for me, and is a definite time saver. What do you guys use for a list?
Great idea! I leave ym laptop in the kitchen and add to my list in Word, then print it when I'm ready to shop. However, I'm frequently forgetting to pick it up from the printer (in the laundry room) before my mad dash to the store. So maybe having it on the fridge would be better. I list everything in the order I find them in the store. That's a HUGE time saver.
ReplyDeleteI saw your list on the fridge last time we were at your house and meant to ask you about it. Good idea! I normally sit in front of the computer go through my recipe websites/blogs and figure out what we are having for the week. I have been writing the meals on my grocery list -well I throw it away once I'm done shopping. I hate to admit this but last week I completely forgot one of the meals I was going to make!!! I need to make a list on my fridge!!!
ReplyDeleteI make a grocery list every weekend and go get only the stuff I need for the upcoming week. I've saved a lot of money this way. I usually write down weekly menus and get the ingredients I need for the menu. I've been doing this for about a year now and it has worked out great for our family. :)
ReplyDeleteFirst time to your blog. Love it!
