Guardian Angels

I came home one day and asked Katie why were Ian's stuffed animals on his headboard.
"Their his guardian angels."
Cuteness.

Weekend plans:
Date night (love this)
Cleaning (don't love this)
Make delicious meals for my family (love this)
Church (love this)
First annual Oscar party (hoping my family will love this)

Do you need some an encouragement on being a better wife?  I know I sure do!  Like Beth Moore says "Marriage is hard."

Have a great weekend!

A new chapter

Brian and I LOVE our date nights.
They havent' been working out real well for us lately though.
Our children are not "little" anymore.
They don't want to go to bed early.
They want to eat what we are eating.
So we decided that date night doesn't work at home anymore.
It's kind of sad.  We love staying in and making a meal for two together.
Life changes though and we need to be flexible.
So we are actually going to go out for our date nights.
What a novel concept to go out for a date!

Brian picked Brasa, what a fun place! I have never eaten at the restaurant, just had it to go.
It was very busy and lively.  People of all ages from college boys to families to couples and even older folks.
Here's what we got
Gucamole and chips
Mexican coke
Rotisserie chicken
Slow-roasted pork
Mashed potatoes and gravy
Creamed spinach with jalapenos
Yum!
Then we came home and watched The Double, we both thought it was just o.k.
We munched on these yummy ice cream bars which made the movie better.
Fun times with the hubs!
Hope you had a great weekend!

Katie's 14th

Something I didn't blog...
An ipod touch.

Our 14 year old wanted a quiet evening at home with her favorite dinner shrimp and pasta.

A cappuccino cake for dessert per the birthday girls request.

A few weeks later a few friends for a sleepover.

A trip to see the Breaking Dawn.

Happy Valentine's Day 2012

Happy Valentine's Day, from our hearts to yours.

Brian, Rachel, Katie and Ian

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7

Grilled cheese and chocolate milk

Because Katie was gone last week, I let Ian pick out a couple of meals for dinner.  Pizza and root beer, and grilled cheese with chocolate milk were his first two choices.

I just found this post... I forgot to publish it.  Better late than never.

House or Home

Valentine's day is just around the corner.
Any special plans?  Brian and I went on a fun date with the Buckman's last night to Forepaugh's.
It's a gorgeous old mansion with intimate, dimly lit rooms.  We even had a table by a fireplace.  The food was delicious and the company great.
My dear friend and prayer partner told me about this great online broadcast put on by Chip Ingram from Living on the Edge ministries.
It is called House or Home? Marriage edition - God's Blueprint for a Great Marriage.  Brian and I have listened to a couple of the messages and really thought they were good.
I thought I would share if you and your spouse were interested.
Here is the link, House or Home.
